Thank You For The Cross

Thank You For The Cross is a song by Graham Kendrick (1995). Several weeks ago I woke up singing this song. I knew I wasn’t singing it correctly (It had been so long since I had sung it), but I couldn’t get the song out of my head. I kept singing it over and over until I was sure that every word was correct. Then a thought came to me: Is there more words to this song? I tried to dismiss it because the words I had remembered was so powerful. Holy Spirit would not let me be content with just what I knew. Two days later I finally found the song on YouTube. I only had the first part of the song. The second part was equally powerful. I want to share this song’s lyrics with you now. I will follow up this song with scripture references.

Thank You For The Cross

Thank You for the cross, The price You paid for us, How You gave Yourself So completely, Precious Lord. Now our sins are gone, All forgiven. covered by Your blood, All forgotten. Thank You, Lord. (thank You, Lord) Oh, I love You, Lord, Really love You, Lord. I will never understand Why You love me. You’re my deepest joy. You’re my hearts desire, And the greatest thing of all, O Lord, I see, You delight in me! For our healing there, Lord you suffered, And to take our fear, You poured out Your love Precious Lord. Calvary’s work is done; You have conquered; Able now to save So completely. Thank You, Lord. (Thank You, Lord) Oh, I love You Lord, Really love You, Lord I will never understand Why You love me. You’re my deepest joy. You’re my heart’s desire, And the greatest thing of all, O Lord, I see, You delight in me!
