The Trinity

I do not claim to be a Bible Scholar, but whatever Holy Spirit shows me, in obedience, I share with you.

The Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, And God the Holy Spirit: The Three in One and the One in Three.

We are introduced to the Trinity in Genesis, chapter 1. Genesis 1:1-3: 1) “In the beginning God Created the heavens and the earth. ” 2)”The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3) “And God said,” : “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:1-4 (NIV).

Definitions from the Noah Webster 1828 American Dictionary of English Language:

1) Trinity: In theology, the union of three persons into one Godhead, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

NOTE: Holy Spirit is not a lesser part of the Trinity. In Jesus’ own words: Matthew 12:31,32: “And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” Mark 3:28-30; 1Corinthians 12:1-11.

2) Triune: Three in one; an epithet applied to God, to express the unity of the Godhead in a trinity of three persons.

3) Godhead: Godship, deity; divinity; divine nature or essence; applied to the True God and to heathen deities.

From the New Webster’s Encyclopedic Dictionary of the English Language:

4) Triad: A group of three, especially of three closely related persons or things.

Because we are made in God’s likeness, God’s image, we are also triune beings: body, soul and spirit. 1Thessalonians 5:23,24 (NIV) “May God Himself, the God of Peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.”
