The Disappearing Act

You may ask yourself what I am talking about. The answer, to me is simple. It is moving out of the way so Jesus can shine brightly through us (without interruption or “help” from us). John understood this when he said to his disciples, “He must increase; I must decrease. Read John 3:22-36.

There is a song that I wrote many years ago: A Heart before God (A Servant’s Heart Pamela M. McGee 8/28/1998): “I wait to hear your words, my King. I wait to hear you, Lord. So speak your words, I long to hear; Your words of eternal love. Please speak in words I understand; Your words so dear to me. Please speak in words I understand; Your words that set me free. For I am your servant, Lord; I listen as you speak. I’ll keep my ear inclined, my Lord. Your face is all I seek. And take me up to be with You as You reveal Yourself. And take me up to be with You, My Lord, there’s nothing else. I wish to lose myself in You As You rise up in me; To disappear inside Your Love, Is my true destiny. You’re my true destiny.”

We call this “dying to self” and “taking up your cross daily”. Matthew 10:37-40; Luke 9:21-26; Philippians 3:7-11. We have nothing to offer the world, but the Good News is that is why Jesus came to this world, died for our sins and was resurrected from the dead. He died for our sins (for He was without sin). He removed the curse of death from us as a result of our rebellion. He gave and gives eternal life to everyone who repents (turn away from) of their sin and reconciled us (made right) to God, our Heavenly Father and Creator. That is why He is the only way to God. John 14:6,7.

The more we surrender to Him, the more He can work through us.

I will share two poems with you that the Lord gave me that exemplifies what I am saying: 1) (Untitled) “Do you think that I do not Know of the war within You; that I cannot see? You feel the brush of my Hand. It draws your heart Near and at the very same Time your soul seeks to run Away. Who will win? Have I not spoken? Have I not whispered in your ear The intent of my heart? Where came the resisting? Do you know better than Me? You reach into your mind To reason, then into you Heart for understanding. You verify it all with your Feelings. When did they Become your Lord? Take my hand and leave Your circular existence. You reach the end, just to Begin it again. Trust me. Let me feel Your fingers in My hand And I will make your Path straight. I will Take you upward and onward. You have made one very poor God, my dear, but I Am reality.” 2) To have Revival (Pamela M. McGee, 11/20/1993): “You cry out to me, “Give me Revival!” I hear it all day long, But Revival is an outpouring Of the Holy Spirit. You cannot give what You do not have. I seek to fill your cup, But it is already full; Full of bitterness, unforgiveness And hurts from the past. It is full of pride. Empty your cup before Me. Empty your cup and I will fill it. You will see the cup fill More and more until It forms a cap. Then You will see it begin To overflow and It will spill over Onto everyone around you. Then you will know What Revival really is.”

Remember: 1)We were made in God’s image not the other way around. Genesis 1:26,27). 2) God’s ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. Praise God! Isaiah 55:6-13.

Are you starting to get the picture? Please read this powerful prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21. I will share the last two verses: “…Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
