The Journey Home
I only came to visit. This has never been home to me. To serve the Lord In this brief life Is our privilege/our destiny. And if my life should end today, it would be too soon for me, but to behold God in His beauty Is what is meant to be. I am packed and ready to return to my Home, Even if it is today. I only came to visit. I was never here to stay. Pamela M. McGee 3/22/2008

2 Corinthians 5:1-10: ” For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. (Read. Genesis 3:6,7; Revelation 3:17,18) For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so what is mortal may be swallowed up by Life. Now the One who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are home in the body or away from it. For we must appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
The definition of the word, “Journey”, in, The New Webster’s Encyclopedic Dictionary of the English Language:
JOURNEY: 1) A traveling from one place to another, usually taking a rather long time; trip. 2) A distance or course traveled. 3) A period of travel: A week’s journey. 4) A passage or progress from one stage to another: the journey to success. 5) To make a journey; travel.
In light of this definition only one word comes to mind – “life”.
We all have a journey that we call life, and the choices that we make will determine our final destination (Home): Eternity in Heaven in the presence of God or eternity in Hell, separated from His presence…forever.
We are sent to this earth, and it is not to fulfill a series of accomplishments on a “bucket list”, nor are we here to fulfill our “bucket list” and die.
We are sent to the earth to commune with our heavenly Father, but it doesn’t end there. We take what God has given us in the power and depth of His Love and give it away, knowing our communion with God is a continuous state of being, and that we cannot out give God. Matthew: 22: 37; Mark 12:29-31.
We are ambassadors of the Lord in a world that is not our home. 2 Corinthians 5:14- 6:2. Our lives and the things that shape our lives prepare us for what God has called us to do and the people we will impact in and on our journey Home.
Though satan is determined to steal from us and kill and destroy us, God turns all of that around for the good of those who love Him and are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28-30.
