In Your Presence, Lord.

This past week the Lord has reminded me of a song that has had a profound effect on my life. I have mentioned this song before as a true worship song. In a time when so many Christian songs are Biblically incorrect, have no anointing (no power); spend more time being introspective than drawing people to God; uses alternative words to substitute for God and/or Jesus; are so horizontal that they are more commiserating than uplifting. I find myself turning/returning to songs about and to our Lord; Vertical songs that bring us into the Holy of Holies: Songs of Worship, Praise and Thanksgiving; Songs of Adoration to God the Father, Jesus Christ our King and the Holy Spirit; Songs that bring us into the presence of God and transforms us so that we look more like God and less like mankind; Songs that cause us to gaze upon our Lord and Savior, and only glimpse at our circumstances; Songs that help us stand in the onslaught of satan instead of crumbling in the face of it; Songs that Saves, Delivers, Heals and Restores; Songs that raises the dead and causes darkness to flee; Songs that encourage and strengthens; Songs that are Truth, Light and Love. Can you say songs of Revival? This song embodies what I am talking about:

In Your Presences, Lord. Dan Walsh

In Your Presence, Lord,

is fullness of Joy and more,

The fullness of Life itself,

The fullness of Peace and Health

And I want to stay here with You forever.

How I want to stay here with You forever.

You call me to wait upon Your hand.

My life begins at Your command.

You are the Light of my soul,

And your Light remains in me

Where ever I go.

You stay with me,

And I, I love You so.

I am by no means saying that we don’t have songs like this today. We all have songs of this kind that we stream, listen to on the radio, Cd’s, Spotify, Youtu.be, the list goes on. I am saying that in the day we live in and the days to come, these songs will be paramount in keeping us in the presence of God and reminding us of who and Whose we are instead of merely listening to music that are our preference.

These type of songs equip us because they fill us with the Love of Jesus to such an extent that it spills over onto others around us. We are replenished every time we enter God’s presence. For people who would say, ‘That’s easy for you. You’re retired,’ I have this to say: this is not about setting aside a certain amount of time. This is about a life style: While you are beginning your day, getting yourself and/or your children ready, driving to work or where ever you are going/what ever the activity you and/or your family are involved in, eating a meal and getting ready for bed; Do you get the picture?

Psalm 84; 24; 23; 139; Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12:29-31; 1 Corinthians 13; Deuteronomy 4:1-9,39,40; 11:16-21.

John 4:22-24 (NIV): “You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know; for the salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in Spirit and in Truth.”
