Wild Ones

Yesterday, at church, we were singing a song which mentioned being wild (as in Christ). I kept thinking what it means to be a “Wild One”. A “Wild One” could vary from person to person, culture to culture, generation to generation, on the face of this earth; as many as are called in Jesus’ Name.

We tend to think “Wild Ones” are people who are loud and uncontained. We tend to think “Wild Ones” are rebellious for rebelliousness sake like in the movie, “Easy Rider”. But this is what Holy Spirit showed me: ” My “Wild Ones” are people who dare to obey Me: They will do as Jesus did.”

There is a song, Where You Go, I Go by Brian and Jenn Johnson : “…Jesus only did what He saw You do. He would only say, what He heard You speak . And He would only move, when He felt You lead; following Your heart, following Your Spirit. So how could I expect to walk without You, when every move that Jesus made was in surrender. I will not begin to live without You for You alone are worthy and You are always good…” Check this song out on YouTube. John 5:19,30; 6:38-40; 14:10.

Do you know how “Wild” that is? No one was “Wilder” than Jesus and He is our Lord and Master. He is our King. Matthew 10:24-28; Luke 6:39,40; John 13:12-17; 15:18-21.

So what does being a “Wild One” look like? We ask these things because we are thinking about things like: Parting the waters, Healing the sick, Limbs growing out; Raising the dead. Believe me when I say That is “Wild” and the people that God works through get our attention.

But Holy Spirit said: 1) Smiling at someone and watching their countenance change is “Wild” in a world where people tend to look like they “suck lemons”. 2) Holding the door for a mother that is struggling with three small children is “Wild” in a world that slams the door in your face. 3) Saying, Please and Thank You, in a world that believe every one is a “MF”; who believe the “F” word is an adjective to describe everything from “soup to nuts”, is “Wild”. 4) Holding a conversation with an elderly person for ten minutes, treating them like a person instead of like a relic is “Wild”. 5) Speaking something positive in a sea of negativity is “Wild”. 6) Standing for/speaking the Truth just to hear someone sneer, “What is truth?” (John 18:33-38). That is “Wild”. 7) Saying, without shame or fear, that Jesus is God the Son and that He came to this earth to die for our sins and was raised back to Life on the third day and reconciles anyone back to God who will repent (turn away from sin) and give their life to Jesus, as Lord and Savior, is “Wild.”

Obedience, fueled by the Love of Jesus is powerful. It is “Wild”.

However it looks, whatever it means, wherever it takes me, I want to be a “Wild One” in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, the Master of my soul.
