The other day I kept hearing, “What’s in a name?” That led me to Exodus 3 when Moses was talking to God within the burning bush. The Lord told Moses that He had chosen him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

Exodus 3:13-15: “Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM, WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, God of your fathers-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob-has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name from generation to generation…”

“I AM WHO I AM.” That statement grabbed ahold of me, forever. I began to underline every time God would say, “I AM” in the Old and New Testament.

Revelation 22:12-17 says: “Look, I AM coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I AM the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End (in the Greek alphabet, Alpha is the first letter and Omega is the last letter). Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I AM the Root and Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” REMEMBER: Hebrew 13:8-9a: “Jesus Christ is the same Yesterday and Today and Forever. Do NOT be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.” John 14:6,7: “Jesus answered, “I AM the Way, and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.”
