What do People See When They Look At Us?

NOTE: All scriptures are from (NIV) unless otherwise stated.

This morning, I heard, “What Gospel are you preaching?” Then I heard. “What Gospel are you sharing?” It sounded like something I had posted before. Later, a brother-in-Christ shared a post that said about the same thing. I thanked him for the confirmation. After that I looked at my previous blogs, I was surprised to see a Post with the title, “Just What Gospel are we Sharing?” Almost all of the scriptures that I had written down this morning were in that post from 6/19/2026.

I asked the Lord what this was all about. The answer was, “You can not give what you do not have.” I found a previous blog, entitled, “What is Your Filter?” Posted 4/30/2025. It addressed that we all have “filters” from our past that could be a hindrance to our witness because that “filter” is not only what a person may see first, but it often taints the Gospel we are sharing. The only “filter” the person(s) we are witnessing to should see is Jesus. The less “filter” of us the person sees, the more of Jesus they will see. The more “filter” of us they see, the less of Jesus they will see. John the Baptist said this clearly to his disciples when he said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” John3:30 (NASB).

We are saved when we repent and ask Jesus to come into our heart. Salvation is also a process as we die to ourselves daily and follow Him. Matthew 10:37-39; Luke 9:23,24. Am I saying we cannot share the Gospel until we have our act completely together? NO! I am saying that as we walk in obedience to Christ, we should share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let our lives be living examples of who Christ is. 2 Corinthians 3:17,18: “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Galatians 5:22-26: “But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Forbearance (patience), Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”

Philippians 4:4-9: “Rejoice in the Lord always I will say it again: Rejoice!” Let your gentleness be evident to all. THE LORD IS NEAR. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the Peace of God, which transcends ALL understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE- If anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of Peace will be with you.

The darkness in this world is increasing as Jesus Christ’s return draws near. The Lord says, “YOU CAN NOT GIVE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE.”

We need Jesus and a growing relationship with and in Him. For too long we have thought that lip service was enough. Our life MUST EXEMPLIFY Christ as well. I am not talking about empty religious rituals. I am talking about LIFE. Our words in Christ must be exemplified with our life in Christ.

PORTRAIT: From the poem, Portrait of a Christian, by Beatrice Clelland. Musical arrangement by Phil Keaggy:

“Not only in the words you say, Not only in your deeds confessed. But in the most unconscious way is Christ expressed. Is it a beautific smile? A holy light upon your brow? Oh no! I felt His presence when you laughed just now. To me t’was not the truth you taught, To you so clear, to me so dim, But when you came to me You brought a sense of Him. And from your eyes He beckons me, and from your lips His love is shed, Till I lose sight of you And see the Christ instead. Is it a beautific smile? A holy light upon your brow? Oh no! I felt His presence when you laughed just now. I felt His presence when you laughed just now. I felt His presence when you laughed just now.”
